Saudi Arabia Has Widened UCA's Insurance Suspension From Motor to All Products
United Cooperative Assurance says Saudi Arabia's Insurance Authority has suspended it from issuing or renewing policies across all insurance products. The move is broader than February's motor-only restriction, while a separate liquidation filing remains unresolved in court.

UCA's Saudi regulatory restriction has expanded from motor insurance to issuing or renewing policies across all insurance products, while the separate liquidation filing has not become a final liquidation judgment.
The regulatory restrictions on United Cooperative Assurance have become materially broader.
UCA says Saudi Arabia's Insurance Authority has suspended the company from issuing or renewing insurance policies across all insurance products, including products sold to individuals and extended-warranty products.
The decision took effect on September 22.
That is different from the restriction imposed earlier this year.
February's suspension was limited to motor insurance
In February, UCA disclosed that the Insurance Authority had suspended it from issuing or renewing motor insurance policies because of regulatory violations.
At that point the company specifically said other insurance products remained available.
The September decision removes that distinction.
The newly disclosed suspension covers issuance and renewal across the company's insurance products.
UCA expects a financial impact but cannot quantify it yet
The company says the broader restriction is expected to negatively affect its 2026 financial results.
It has not quantified the size of that effect.
UCA says it intends to implement corrective measures and coordinate with the Insurance Authority to restore compliance.
The liquidation process is separate
UCA is also dealing with a creditor application seeking commencement of liquidation proceedings in Riyadh.
The Commercial Court has accepted the application for registration and consideration.
But the company explicitly states that registering the application does not constitute a final judgment to liquidate UCA and does not mean the court has ordered liquidation proceedings to begin.
That distinction matters.
Trading suspension is not the same as company liquidation
The Capital Market Authority has separately suspended trading in UCA shares while the court process is considered.
The share suspension, the Insurance Authority's operating restriction and the creditor's court filing are connected to the company's current position but are legally distinct events.
None should be used as shorthand for a final liquidation order that has not yet been issued.
Existing policies need to be separated from new business
The September disclosure specifically describes a suspension on issuing or renewing policies.
It does not state that all existing insurance contracts have been cancelled.
The public materials reviewed by Arabian Current do not fully explain how every category of in-force policy will be administered during the broader suspension.
Policyholders therefore need to distinguish between restrictions on new or renewed business and the status of an already-issued contract.
What Arabian Current is watching
Watch for Insurance Authority guidance on remediation, UCA disclosures on existing-policy servicing, the company's financial impact and the Commercial Court's decision on whether liquidation proceedings will formally commence.
The court decision is the next major legal state change.
Since February, UCA had been prevented from issuing or renewing motor insurance while other products remained available.
The company says the Insurance Authority has broadened the restriction to issuance and renewal across all insurance products effective September 22.
The next material events are regulatory remediation, clarification on existing-policy servicing and the court's decision on the creditor's liquidation application.

Saudi Exchange disclosures establish both the February motor-only restriction and the September all-products suspension. A separate September court disclosure explicitly states that registration of the liquidation application is not a final liquidation judgment.
